An IDEA to think about

I've been thinking about this for a while... It would be wonderful to plan a Campus Reunion weekend. We had a campus reunion BBQ a couple of years back in Orlando. But this one would be a weekend event, where we would rent a large house on the beach, and we would catch up all weekend long. Of course, we would have to plan it in a few years advance, so that everyone could make sure they have the time off and it would work with the kids school schedule. Like a July 4th weekend or Labor Day weekend. This is just an idea that I've had for a long time, so I figure I would throw it out there for thoughts and suggestions.

Pui,

That is a great idea. The only thing is... the cost of eatting out. So, pricing the difference would be good. Unless there is a solution to the eatting out.

I found one rental as an idea. Something that the kids could really enjoy all weekend as well as the adults. I found this rental on lakeside: Lake Oconee, Georgia, as an idea, but still looking for some in Florida. This rental has 10 bedrooms + Convertibles, 9.5 baths, sleeps 24-33. Huge game room with wet bar, pinball, golden T, poker table and large screen T.V. Swim up to the bar-heated pool, hot tub, cabana, gazzibo, BBQ and volley ball court. Deck boat and jet skis available with special arrangement. Click here for website photos and details. And it would cost, $350 per family for 3.5 days. Check-in on Friday @ noon and Check-out on Monday @ noon

Deb,
The deal is good all year round. The nice thing is that it has a heated pool, lake that we can boat and jet ski on, game room for kids and adults, 14 seater kitchen table, big kitchen, BBQ, cable tv in each room for the kids to watch different channels or play games on and keep the kids on the grounds and happy. It is a 5 hour drive from Orlando. Not to bad.

The cost could even be cut for two families or singles. The master has two queen size beds and a master bathroom. So, the cost could be split for that room. And the kids could sleep in the living room/game room in sleeping bags/on couches. It would be fun for the kids to have a big sleep over in the big family/game room.

Cool Idea!

Next summer (June 2007 ?)
we will be out in Georgia or North Carolina with The Pirri Family Reunion -- plans are still in the making for that one too.
I do not think that we would be able to afford doing 2 reunions the same year(time & $)... but if it happens to be around the same time & area, perphaps we can stop by and crash the party.

I work for Rentalo.com - good place to find vacation rentals and lodgings' ideas. Love, Zeni

That sounds like fun! At this time Nikki and I both have flexible schedules and can work anywhere that has Internet.

If we stayed in a house, it would be cheaper, easier, better, more family-like when it comes to dinner, rather than burden a restaurant with kids, is to either chip in or go shopping ourselves, pool together our plunder, and cook for each other. We can upload a list of ingredients we need for our part and people can check off what they buy - like a wedding registry.

What would be really special is if we could each cook something special to us. I've been cooking a lot of Puerto Rican food lately, and I'm sure that along with Digna and Zenaida we can make something special. Pui and Jennifer can kill us with Chinese!

This place does look good! I've got the summer off, and my daughter is in a private school, so we could make any of the summer holidays (memorial day, independance day, labor day) and use the trip to go on to Florida to visit my sister in Vero Beach (that trip we missed this summer!). Ruby Rosetta would love a major sleep-over, like all girls..

I've missed everyone, and would love this time to get together and talk late into the night (almost just like we used to).

and, just like Carlos, as long as I have an internet connection...i'm good.

Count us in! We would love to spend some time with all of you, remembering the good times, and making a new memory! Our kids would love the Big Cottage ideas, and sleeping on the floor with a bunch of kids. Fortunately, with our job we work one week on/ one week off- so we can pretty much make it any time next year. Let us know, and if we come accross something we'll mention it. We do a lot of travelling, and own a timeshare, so we can get some pretty great deals if needed! Anyway, can hardly wait!

This is all sounds like a great idea! I'm definitely interested in joining up with everyone...Luis (Moya), I, and our one- and two-year olds would have a ball with all of you! We're pretty flexible on the timing...
